Multi-Factor Authentication

BY IT GLUE | February 04, 2015

We are pleased to announce another much-anticipated IT Glue feature: Multi-Factor Authentication. This new feature enables you to drastically enhance the security and privacy of your IT Glue data. This new feature is available on all plans.

Why Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), often referred to as 2-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a simple best practice that adds an extra layer of protection on top of your user name and password when accessing IT Glue. With MFA enabled, when a user signs in to IT Glue, they will be prompted for their user name and password (the first factor—what they know), as well as for an authentication code from their MFA device (the second factor—what they have). Taken together, these multiple factors provide increased security for your IT Glue account settings and resources.

You can enable MFA for your IT Glue account for individual users you have created under your account. This can be done as an administrator, and configured individually by each user. After you’ve obtained your virtual MFA device, IT Glue does not charge any additional fees for using MFA.

Getting Started

  1. Install a virtual MFA application on your Smart Phone – e.g. iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, Android
  2. Enable MFA on your IT Glue account
  3. Login with username, password and MFA moving forward
